I quit using Facebook about a month ago due to concerns over privacy. It was not so much that I cared if the information I posted was shared -- I never quite trusted Facebook enough to post anything private -- it is that I don't want to be part of the game of convincing other people that their information is safe and then exposing it. So today (5/19) I took down whatever information I could find on Facebook and left links to this site. If you want to contact me, send me a DM on Twitter @jcleon or leave a posting on this page.

If you have sent me a message on Facebook, or requested to "friend" me there, please do not be offended. I no longer use that service.

I completely agree with your thoughts on facebook. I did quite a bit of research and took a look at the Terms and Conditions. When I found out that I was actually bound to keep all information complete and current, I was a more than unsettled. The sheer fact that my information could be used for any purpose by anybody definately left a bad taste in my mouth. I find it amusing how difficult it is to REALLY delete one's account. Great post.

OK. I am back on Facebook. I read The Facebook Effect and it had an effect on me. See the post here: http://www.jaycleon.com/blog/2010/8/11/book-review-the-facebook-effect-by-david-kirkpatrick.html

I still think handing identity management to Mark Zuckerberg is a mistake, so I will continue to resist that. But it is difficult to not be impressed with him, his company, and what they have accomplished.

Jay,

Without any other way of contacting you I thought I would write here because your name popped into my head. I up at Roche Harbor with my wife celebrating an anniversary and saw your lovely tug. Though we haven't spoken in at least a decade i recognized the Maris Pearl. Perhaps you keep it at Roche for the summer or perhaps you are here. Either way, hello from me and my dad.

Wow Jay!!! Looks like you've done okay for yourself!!! Way over my head, but I am impressed!!

Sounds like you've been very busy and quite successful. Would love to know more about your family!

I've been married for almost 26 years now, although I know that's hard to believe since I don't feel any older than 26!! Looks don't lie, however, and I guess I'm older than I feel!! My husband works for Haggen, based out of Bellingham. We live in Lynden and love living the small town life. I have a daughter, 21, who is a senior at SPU, although she is taking this year off to do an apprenticeship at a church in Bremerton. My son is a junior at Lynden Public after being at Lynden Christian for the past 10 years. Change is hard, but this may be a good thing...we'll see! I've mostly been a stay at home mom for all these years, but have worked very part-time and am now working at the library in town and really enjoy it!
I much prefer being in my cozy home doing homey things...gardening, quilting, cooking, reading, etc. I always wanted to be a wife and mom and I'm doing what I love!!! I am a firm believer in the one true God and I probably have to thank you a little for that!!! You were always such a great guy and I remember your dad being a pastor. Little seeds planted here and there have grown to fruition!!

I too have a blog, but a little more mundane (okay, a lot more!) than yours. Mostly about the goings on in the family and such. I don't do facebook much, but have found a few classmates lately and was curious as to what they were up too. Glad you came back and that I got a chance to peek into your life! I thought I knew most of the kids in our class, but there are many unknown names. Do you think they just wanted to be part of the LC class of '82??!!

Would love to hear from you!!

Blessings to you and your family!!

Holly
